Join me for a concert of percussion music featuring my own original works and To The Earth by the late Frederic Rzewski. The program includes works for acoustic percussion instruments such as marimba, vibraphone, drums, and flower pots and works that include electronics. This means microphones will record the acoustic instruments, send the sound to a laptop running the program Ableton which will change the sound in some way, then send the sound to the speakers. The work Drumming On Ursonate is a setting of Dada poet Kurt Schwitters's sound poem "UrSonate" or "Primordial Sound" that explores the sounds that make up words. The final work, In Place is a set of seven vignettes or short episodes each with a unique sonic texture.
